Eurocamp Review: Saint Aygulf

Welcome back to my Eurocamp review series!

If you’ve read my other Eurocamp blogs, you’ll know that it’s probably our favourite way to holiday! If you want to know more about other sites, you can read about our time in Esterel and La Baume, as well as my Ultimate Guide to a Eurocamp holiday blog, which has got everything you’ll need to know about booking a Eurocamp holiday.

But for now, here’s my review of Saint Aygulf campsite, a quieter and smaller site surrounded by a gorgeous beach that is within walking distance. It would be ideal for families with young children under 10, or even childfree couples looking for a relaxing break in a stunning spot in Southern France.

This site had a little less going on than the bigger parcs we’d stayed at but we didn't mind and there’s still plenty to rave about!

  • The views and scenery were absolutely beautiful - I had breakfast with a view!

  • Perfect pool areas for toddlers and younger children - the kids loved the splash area

  • Literally a two-minute walk to the gorgeous sandy beach - lots of water sports available and jet skis to hire if that’s your thing

As with our other Eurocamp holidays, we flew from Birmingham into Nice airport and hired a car which we booked at the airport. It was under an hour’s drive. I spoke before about why I love having a car on holiday but if you’re a nervous driver or simply don’t want to drive whilst you’re on holiday, you could arrange  a private transfer from the airport to the Eurocamp.

The accommodation at Saint Aygulf

We stayed in a two bedroom Comfort mobile home which had a large decking area with  outdoor seating which gave the overall feeling of the accommodation being larger. There was air conditioning and a separate lounge area and kitchen.

  • Things we liked - couldn’t fault the cleanliness at all.

  • Things to be aware of - our accommodation had a microwave oven which we found a little difficult to use! We didn’t opt for the cleaning package here and opted for self-clean before check out. This is the only site where staff have come to do an inspection before we left.

The onsite bakery was too tempting!

What I liked about this site is that even though there was an on-site bar and restaurant, there were lots of others in walking distance too so you weren’t confined to the site if you didn't have a car. There was a supermarket on the campsite but it wasn’t that well-stocked - the good news is that the Carrefour supermarket is only a 7 minute drive away so we could pick up supplies. There was an onsite bakery/boulangerie though which was a nice touch.

  • Things we liked - the food was great at the on-site restaurant - would definitely recommend the caesar salad! We loved being able to walk to the boulangerie and eat our pain au chocolates looking out at the river!

  • Things to be aware of - the on-site supermarket closed quite early which was, no good for late night snack runs!

This site was definitely more geared up for smaller children - I’d say under 10. There was one large pool, a separate toddler pool and splash pad with slides, but they weren’t like the huge chutes we saw at La Baume!

The larger pool on the site

The pool areas were beautiful though and designed like a lagoon with stunning views out to the sea, you really did feel like you were in the Mediterranean. The pool water was cool and there was no heated option so let’s just say it was refreshing! But it was so close to the beach which was perfect for an afternoon stroll and a change of scenery - I even had a dip!

  • Things we liked - it was really nice to try a quieter parc and the fact the facilities were smaller meant that the kids were less intimidated by everything, they loved the splash pad.

  • Things to be aware of - we didn’t mind but it was quite small compared to other Eurocamps so if you like a larger site, this may not be the vibe for you. Speedos are mandatory for men - although my husband was not challenged here about wearing swimming shorts!

There were kids clubs here but it was much more low key - but that didn’t bother us too much - we liked a bit of a slower pace and not having the constant pressure of needing to do something with the kids all the time. We enjoyed just being on the beach, collecting shells, and singing songs - all of which were completely free but just as fun!

There was much-less in terms of entertainment here but there was a gym onsite, and plenty of things to do nearby on the water like jet-skiing, pedalos and windsurfing.

  • Things we liked - I’m a firm believer in exercise being good for the soul so the on-site gym was nice for us adults. Not much ‘going on’ but this wasn’t a negative and we felt very relaxed and calm.

  • Things to be aware of - lack of activities for older children here so they may get bored.

The only other facility I think is worth mentioning is the laundry. Call me mad but I enjoy doing laundry when we’re away and feel smug about the fact I don't need to do 10 loads of washing when I get home! It was only €5 a load which I didn’t think was bad at all.

There were local restaurants and shops within walking distance of the park but we spent most of our time on the beach which was perfect for us. There were long stretches of beaches within walking distance that you can grab some lunch or a snack at.

We would as a base but there wasn’t much going on to do a long trip here. I think this site would be perfect for those with babies and young children who want to get away without the hustle and bustle of a busy site. Our children are three and four and although to be expected out of season, it was very quiet here. In my opinion it would be a good site to stop over for a few days if travelling somewhere else.
